Merriman House Emergency Shelter and Drop-in Centre for Women |
|||
The Sandy Merriman House opened its doors in 1994 and has since provided many necessary services for homeless and inadequately housed women in Victoria. The house acts as a drop-in centre offering beds, showers, telephones, laundry facilities, meals and use of computers. Shelter staff are on hand to organize support group activities and workshops. Runners of Compassion have been able to supply much needed personal items, food, guest passes to the YM/YWCA, and van rentals for various excursions. Early in 2003, RofC was able to provide them with a couple pieces of new furniture. Two members of Runners of Compassion work as contacts with shelter staff to monitor needs. Sandy Merriman House |
